An environment-first perspective

Roverbravilo is an independent information website about specialist environments for game audio recording. We focus on the relationship between room behaviour, physical performance, recording practice and the material another team receives.

Our readers include producers preparing a first studio brief, voice directors organising a complex script and sound teams deciding what to capture in a limited session. We do not operate recording facilities, represent performers or arrange bookings.

Why follow a session?

Equipment categories can make recording seem like a shopping problem. In practice, useful results depend on connected decisions: whether the room is quiet enough, whether the performer understands the action, whether variations serve the game and whether the handoff preserves the right choices.

Our four guides follow that sequence. Each can be read independently, but together they describe a preparation process rather than a fixed recipe. A restrained dialogue scene and an expressive Foley performance may need different spaces, different schedules and different definitions of success.

“A technically correct recording is a starting point. A recording that serves the next decision is a production asset.”

— Roverbravilo editorial principle

How we frame technical information

We distinguish common practice from mandatory requirements. References to standards, organisations and production tools provide context, not certification or endorsement. A project's delivery specification, applicable performer agreement and qualified professional advice take precedence over general editorial guidance.

We avoid equipment rankings presented as universal answers. Where a microphone type, format or workflow appears, the relevant question is what problem it solves and what new constraint it introduces.

Sources and further checking

For authoritative technical detail, consult the relevant organisations directly: ISO for acoustic measurement standards, EBU Technology & Innovation for Broadcast Wave and loudness documentation, and ITU for measurement recommendations.

Performer engagements should be checked against current guidance from bodies such as SAG-AFTRA and Equity. These organisations are not affiliated with this website.

Corrections are part of the work

If a passage is unclear or technically inaccurate, send the page address, the specific claim and a reliable reference through our contact page. Please do not send confidential scripts, unreleased recordings or personal information about performers.
